Job Description

Maxxima is currently seeking experienced SUPERVISED CONTACT WORKERS to fill a full time role in LEICESTER. The ideal candidate will have a significant understanding of CHILDREN & FAMILIES Practices.

The starting pay rate for these locum Social Care positions is £11 and is initially a 3 month contract with potential for extension.


Overall Purpose:
To assist Social Workers in their statutory duties through the provision of a supervised
contact service and transport support where necessary, at the centre and other venues as appropriate.
Major Objectives:
To provide a high quality contact service in a safe environment appropriate to the circumstances/ages of the children, that meets the Departments statutory duties and the directions of the court.
To contribute to a service, which is anti-discriminatory and recognises the differing needs of children and their families, including disability.
To provide a service which contributes to the Departmental and legal decision making processes and enhances the possibility of rehabilitation and or positive parenting/family experiences.
Summary of Job Tasks:
To supervise contact at the centre and other venues as appropriate.
To transport children and families where this is necessary to facilitate contact or assessment.
To make such reports as are required to the Social Worker to assist their assessment of contact.
To maintain proper records of work undertaken.
To maintain a safe and appropriate environment for the child/family according to age and need.
To attend supervision sessions and training as required by your Line Manager.
To supervise those children/families during the assessment process, where a session is taking place that
is not subject to assessment.
Essential Role Requirements:
At the level of GCSE or equivalent.
6 months relevant employment - involving direct provision of caring services to children/families.
Must be able to recognise discrimination in its many forms and willing to put the Council's Equality Policies into practice.
Good communication and organisational skills, including the ability to write simple letters and reports on a variety of subjects.
Good interpersonal skills
Basic understanding of children's developmental needs.
Understanding of health and safety issues relating to children, including in relation to transport.
Good observational skills.
The ability to deal with conflict in a sensitive manner.
Current Driving Licence.
Provision of own car.
Ability to work feasible out of office hours, within an average of 37 hours per week.
