Maxxima's Social Work team are currently recruiting for a Service Manager to fill a job role in Sheffield.
The role will be based within a Looked After Children Children and Families Service, who are looking for a Service Manager to start as soon as possible on a full-time basis. The pay rate for this role is Negotiable, and the role will initially be a three-month contract, with the likelihood of extension.
Requirements and details of this vacancy:
Responsible for delivering and developing services to children, young people, families and carers in line with agreed financial plans and wider directorate and council wide priorities, always seeking to ensure that outcomes for service users are maximised.

Take a lead role in service area, directorate and corporate projects which enable the Local Authority to meet key national targets, priorities and initiatives.

Lead the development of policy, procedure and standards in own service area which contribute to the delivery of excellent services, align to local and national priorities and inform future council strategy and resource priorities.

Act as a representative of the service and establish effective partnerships with other agencies on new projects and initiatives to maximise the contribution of all appropriate agencies (Service Districts, Health, Education, Police, Voluntary, Community and Faith Sectors) to improving outcomes for children in need within local communities.

Act as a representative of the Local Authority on regional groups and at a strategic level with other Local Authorities.

Act as a representative of the Local Authority around contentious issues aligned to area of responsibility and in the resolution of escalated service user complaints.

Act as point of liaison with other agencies to define Local Authority commissioning requirements, service specifications and quality frameworks, monitoring, evaluating and negotiating contracts to meet required outcomes.

Maintain professional knowledge of national initiatives from appropriate bodies such as the Department of Health and Department for Education. Use professional knowledge and understanding of political agendas to inform service strategy and development.

Preparation of briefings and reports to the Senior Management Team and where appropriate assist the Asst Director in the preparation of briefings and reports required by the Directorate Management Team, Elected Members, Scrutiny Board, Children's Services Portfolio Holder and Cabinet.

Responsible for the effective deployment of staff resources to achieve service delivery requirements, complying with Local Authority procedures, national standards and best practice and undertake consultation with recognised Trade Unions around individual cases and changes to the service.

Responsible for ensuring the achievement of appropriate requirements and actions in preparation for and as a result of inspections and reviews including those by the DfE, Annual Performance Assessment, Joint Area Review and other inspection regimes.

Alongside other Service Managers and Principal Child and Family Social Worker, ensure that emergency cover and decision making is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Lead on the achievement of Key Performance Indicators identified through service planning.

Respond effectively and efficiently to complaints regarding service delivery.

Work to the prescribed quality standards for service provision set out by the service for all workers.
