Job Description

Maxxima are currently recruiting for a locum HCPC registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work in a CAMHS Service in Taunton.

All applicants must have a relevant qualification in Clinical/Counselling Psychology - for example a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology - and preferably some post-qualification experience within the NHS or private sector.

You will act as a 'gate keeper' to admissions on paediatric wards for young people presenting in mental health crisis and following deliberate self-harm. You will be able to recognise appropriate need for use of the mental health act and escalate your concerns around this. You will be a point of contact for multi-agencies in safeguarding young people from harm, including the use of a multi-agency safeguarding approach.

Additional support is provided by CAMHS Enhanced Outreach Team Shift Co-ordinator, the on-call Consultant, on-call Manager and the Community Eating Disorders Service (CEDS). The Trust is developing close links with the district general hospitals and wider community teams.

The role includes devising and ensuring delivery of specialist CAMHS mental health education to Acute Trust staff to increase awareness, with the ultimate aim of improving the young person's experience in an acute care setting.

Hours of work will be 9am - 5pm or 12noon - 8pm Monday to Friday (may need to alternate these shifts).
