Job Description

Maxxima are recruiting for a band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with CAMHS experience to work within an Emotional Wellbeing Service.

Our Clients are looking for candidates to start as soon as possible on a full time, 37.5 hour per week basis. The contract will initially be for 3 months, there is a high chance that the contract will be extended beyond this. The service has confirmed that part-time applicants would be considered.

Requirements of the role:
The post holder will provide consultation to multi-agency professionals who work with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties who access the CWD and Care Planning and Placements Service. In addition, the post holder will offer joint work with professionals, foster carers and LAC, as well as providing direct therapeutic work to children with disabilities and their families. Furthermore, the post holder will co-deliver therapeutic groups and training for families and professionals.

This is a community-based service and therefore the work will be undertaken in clients' homes, schools and day services where appropriate.

The post-holder will utilise research skills for projects including audit, policy and service development and will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the trust's policies and procedures.

Required skills/experience:
Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology, including specific models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS.

Professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings.

Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.

Experience of working with children and adolescents and their carer networks in a relevant setting.

Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.

Skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.

Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.

Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practised within the clinical fields of psychology.

Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.

Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
