Maxxima is currently seeking an experienced Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse to fill a full time, 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, role based in the Access & Assessment Team, based in Chelmsford, Essex. The ideal candidate will have a significant understanding of Mental Health practices.
The starting pay rate for this locum role is £23.00 per hour (Umbrella Rate) and is 3 months initially with the possibility of extension to start ASAP.
The post holder carries responsibility for the assessment and advising on management of patients presenting with mental health difficulties on wards and within the Accident and Emergency department in Mid Essex. They will be required to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in close co-operation with hospital based and primary health care based professionals. They will be responsible for the maintenance of standards of care within the Team and actively participate in the training and education of staff from allied agencies.
Main duties of the role:
*To develop & maintain specialist clinical skills and expertise in the assessment of people with mental health needs and dementia
*To receive and asses referrals from the general wards and Accident and Emergency Department.
*To offer advice on management of patients with mental health issues and dementia
*To ensure nursing assessment, care and support of each client is appropriate to individual needs.
*To feedback outcome of assessment to the referrer and agree and implement the management plan.
*To ensure that clients requiring further assessment and help are referred on appropriately.
*To implement effective joint care planning for people who repeatedly attend A&E.
*To arrange admission to the mental health services in conjunction with the liaison psychiatrist and the CRHT.
*To support and encourage closer working relationships with other professionals with in the hospital.
*To support and participate in the introduction and delivery of short term psychological interventions for a specific cohort of individuals.
*To liaise effectively with staff on the general wards and maintain accurate nursing records that provide assessment reports to GPs and other allied agencies.
*To provide advice and monitor the use and provision of the Mental Health / Capacity act 1983 and other relevant legislation.
*To provide clinical advice / expertise health education, consultation, and staff support to other health professionals within the General Hospitals
*To know how to access appropriate services and develop effective networks and channels of communications.
*To actively participate in the achievement of clinical outcome measures and accreditations for the service.
*To adhere to N.M.C. code of Professional Conduct.
*To attend case conferences & meetings as relevant to the job description.
Requirements of the role:
